Mindy's Mother's Day Tips

Instead of breakfast in bed, serve Mom brunch this Mother's Day at her very own outdoor bistro.

1. Decorate a table on your patio with a crisp white tablecloth and Mom's favorite flowers.
2. Take a piece of white cardstock and have the kids create and decorate a menu for her.
3. Then, the kids, dressed up as the waiters/waitresses, can seat her, take her order, and serve Mom her favorite foods.
4. Don't forget dessert! Treat her to a special time by serving her favorite cake with a glass of Mirassou wine that pairs perfectly with it:

Moms love personalized gifts from their children - and Dads are key co-conspirators in surprising Mom. First, decide on a theme for Mom's big day and take it from there. Her are some great ideas:

• Does your Mom love to picnic?
  Why not surprise her with the picnic of her dreams to a favorite park or beach? Pack a chilled bottle of Mirassou Monterey County Chardonnay or her favorite cold beverage, fruits, cheeses, crusty bread and her favorite dessert. Don't forget a picnic blanket, wine opener and napkins!
• Does your Mom love photos?
  Why not create a photo collage of her favorite things, as seen through the eyes of her children? Buy the kids some disposable cameras and ask them to take photos of Mom's favorite things, such as flowers, favorite places around town, favorite activities and favorite people (including themselves!). You'll be surprised at what the kids come up with! Mount the photos on foam board with some spray adhesive and frame it. You've created a moment frozen in time for her to remember always.
• Does Mom like games?
  Organize a scavenger hunt with clues written and decorated by the kids. Each clue leads Mom to her favorite things - a new pair of flip-flops, a good book, her favorite bottle of wine (such as America's Favorite California Pinot Noir - Mirassou California Pinot Noir), some chocolates, or whatever suits her. This is a fun adventure for the whole family.
• Does your Mom love music or theatre?
  What about buying her an mp3 player that you've loaded with her favorite songs? Or treat her to a very special play, starring - who else? - her own kids. Give Mom a front row seat, as well as her favorite appetizers and beverage.
• Does Mom have a sweet tooth?
  Most Moms do! But this Mother's Day, instead of a box of chocolates, what about creating an old fashioned dessert bar for her? Bake her favorite cookies and package them individually with notes about why Mom is so sweet. Fill a glass jar with her favorite candy or chocolates. Or serve up ice cream with all of her favorite toppings.
