In 1985, John Mark's mother and my mother were seated beside one another at our fathers' softball game. There we sat inside of their bellies; neither they nor we knew that someday we would get married. Our parents had always been family friends; however we never grew up around one another. Twenty years later, my college roommate turned out to be one of John Mark's good high school friends. Our paths ended up crossing when my roommate invited us both to lunch; she called this her "five-year plan" because she said she knew we were going to get married. As soon as I saw him standing outside the restaurant, I immediately knew that there was something special about him and I wanted to get to know him better. Two short years later, we found ourselves seated at our favorite hole-in-the-wall Italian restaurant. He had brought me here on our first date, to make our relationship official, and to tell me he loved me. I hoped our fourth visit was because he was taking me back to our momentous place to get engaged. After dessert, he looked at me over the candlelight in our little corner booth and revealed a beautiful diamond ring and said, "I think this ring will look beautiful on your finger forever. I love you so much. Will you marry me??" Of course, I said, "YES!" Moments this special last a second, but are remembered and cherished for a lifetime.
