Setting Ambiance, Starting your Wedding Day
Ambiance
Q: In what ways can wine add a special ambiance at a wedding or other bridal event, such as a bridesmaid luncheon or bridal shower?
A: Wine is a nice touch because it adds certain sophistication over other beverages. Wine is also versatile and can be used for virtually all wedding celebrations, including the pre- and post-parties! For example, wine can play a special part in the rehearsal dinner, or at a post-BBQ after the big event.
Of course, the wine selection reflect the personal style and taste of the bride and groom for the big day. If the couple loves Pinot Noir, the menu can be designed to pair with that varietal.
Displaying Wine
Q: How can wine be displayed in a memorable way?
A: A really spectacular way to serve wine is by chilling it in carved ice chilling buckets at an outdoor reception. Create these ice "buckets" by carving them out of ice and molding florals to the inside of the ice to match the flowers at the ceremony.
If you use a clear liner, these floral ice buckets also can be used as a dramatic table centerpiece or as part of the centerpiece.
Welcoming GuestsQ: How can wine be incorporated as a favor at a wedding reception, for out-of-town guests, or at other bridal events?
A: The tried but true welcome basket for your out-of-town guests is not a new idea, but brides and grooms can make it really special if it reflects their own personality. Guests love to snack! And for out-of-towners who are staying at a hotel, this becomes an especially appreciated token. It's a little like welcoming guests to your own home.
A few ideas we love: Local fresh fruit, crackers, cheeses, dried meats, nuts, chocolates and, of course, a nice bottle of Mirassou wine. Add a personalized note letting your guests know how much you appreciate their presence. You may even want to provide them with a note explaining why each element of the basket is special.
