Jerry and I have been together 8 years and are finally getting married! We've been through it all, including a five-month separation when Hurricane Katrina forced me to relocate with my job. Although it was tough, I was placed in Northern California's wine country and while there developed an appreciation and love for wine. Now that I am back home in New Orleans and reunited with my fiancé, I still enjoy a glass of wine and Mirassou's Cabernet is one of my favorites! This prize would help to fulfill our dream, a traditional New Orleans style wedding. Having Mirassou wine served at the reception would be the perfect celebration of home (New Orleans) and my home away from home in California's wine country!

How Brandy met Jerry:

“Jerry and I met in high school, however we were not sweethearts! In fact, I dated his friend my sophomore and junior year. They both graduated and went to college and I rarely saw either one. One night, while out with friends, I ran into Jerry and we exchanged numbers to catch up. He soon became my best friend and eventually more. We have been through thick and thin over the years, including a five-month separation after Hurricane Katrina relocated me to California’s wine country. It was really hard to be away from my family and especially Jerry, but I couldn’t complain about my beautiful surroundings. Going through that experience made us realize that we wanted to spend our lives together. It was a no-brainer … I had to get home to be with him.”

Brandy's Engagement Story

One of the most unique qualities of my fiancè Jerry is his sense of humor. While driving with my sister to have dinner, I was suddenly pulled over by three unmarked SUVs. These guys did not look like our local police. I thought they were the Feds! They looked underneath my car and ignored my questions of "Why am I being pulled over?" I was asked to step out of the car, and then they questioned me about where I was going, and if I had ever been arrested before! Ten minutes later when I was at the point of tears, the "officer" turned me around, and I saw Jerry down on one knee with my beautiful ring. Just like an episode of candid camera, my parents then appeared from behind a bush with a video camera. They caught the whole thing on tape … even the part when I said "YES!"

Mirassou Winery is proud to announce it will again be awarding one lucky couple $10,000 toward expenses for the big day.
