Registry Tips from Wishpot.com
Brides-to-be (and their grooms, too!) have many questions about wedding registries: When should we register? Where should we register? Should we register at more than one location? What if we already have everything we think we need?
To make your registry experience as stress-free as possible, consider these tips:
- Consider registering online. An online registry makes it easy for your guests near and far to get you what you want. Guests love the option of ordering your gift online, and they can have the gift mailed to you instead of having to carry it with them.
- Let your family and wedding party know where you have registered, and let them spread the word! You can include your wedding registry link on your wedding website, Facebook profile – anywhere it is convenient for your guests to find.
- Remember: Registering should be fun, not work – so enjoy the process!
- Most couples register at least six months before the wedding or even earlier if there are engagement celebrations or bridal showers being given in honor of the couple-to-be.
- Begin thinking about where you love to shop, your style of entertaining, and what you might need for your home. Ask yourself: Do you entertain outdoors? Will you host large family gatherings? Do you have holiday items?
- Plan to register for more items than the number of guests who will attend, in order to give everyone plenty of options. Offer your guests items in a variety of price ranges to keep their shopping fun, too.
- You may think you have everything and do not need to register, but consider china, crystal, wine glasses (all kinds), silver, serving pieces, table linens and outdoor entertaining items, which most couples don’t already have.
- Retailers use terms like "Everyday,” "Outdoor/Casual Entertaining,” and "Holiday Entertaining," which are often helpful to think about when you’re trying to plan for future needs.
- Couples usually register for places settings for twelve, but this is not a hard and fast rule. Think about what your home entertaining might look like – small gatherings, or large soirees?
Imagining the many celebrations you will enjoy together is a wonderful way to plan your future life together!
